Expecting the Unexpected – How to Serve in a Time Crunch

March 3, 2015 by Marsha Sites McKeegan

The unexpected guests ? we?ve all had them at one time or another.

While you are thrilled they have stopped by, your mind races to all the places in your home you haven?t cleaned and the extremely bare refrigerator that you were just about to refill when, you know, you got the chance to make it to the grocery store.

Again, we?ve all been there. If you?re an individual who hasn?t ?been there,? take notes, because most likely there is a day in your future that you will ?be there.?

While there are a few things in the ?unexpected guests? scenario we could focus on ? like how not to worry about the dust on your floor boards or your children?s toys strewn about the house – we?re just going to focus on one key thing: how to make your unexpected guests feel not so unexpected with food.

No, we are not going to talk about making some grandiose meal or the best homemade dessert you?ve ever tasted. While grandiose meals and homemade desserts are wonderful, they take time and preparation to make. And when those unexpected guests show up, the last thing you have is time!

So our solution is on the simple and fun side of things – always be prepared with the ingredients to make a cheese board (or your family?s variation of that).

A cheese board? Yes! We?re talking about a simple, yet beautiful display of food that can be whipped together in a matter of moments with ingredients found in your pantry and refrigerator.

How do I make a cheese board? Well, first things first, grab your Abundance Pizza Tray that?s hanging beautifully on the wall or placed decoratively on your counter.

Then, grab a variety of salty and sweet things from your pantry and refrigerator. Our variety includes different cheeses, crackers, salami and pepperoni, apples, apricots and a sweet/salty trail mix.

Then, turn your tray over and display the food how you want to! There?s no wrong way to display it. Remember our goal is to make our guests feel welcomed, not intimidated!

This cheese board will leave your guests feeling loved, satisfied, and well, not so unexpected. Enjoy!
