Around 25 years ago this message was penned by Roy Lessin on a birthday card and as the saying goes…the rest is History!
DaySpring Cards was born in a small commercial print shop in Covina, California, in 1971. The company was founded by four Christian men – Dean Kerns, Don Leetch, Russ Flint, and Roy Lessin. These men started DaySpring with a common vision, to make Christ known through the printed message.
DaySpring Cards moved to Siloam Springs in 1979. Before that time Roy was speaking and teaching until his voice was impacted by a rare neurological condition. Roy stated, “God took away the pulpit and gave me a pen.”
Roy said, “At that time the furthest thing from my mind was being a writer.” Roy shared that his worst subject was English. He had to retake 10th grade English because he didn’t pass the course. In College he took a writing course and the professor gave him a D minus minus on every paper he wrote. The only reason she passed him is because he turned in all of his assignments. The professor told him, “Roy you cannot write at a college level.” Roy was fine with that because he had no desire to be a writer.
But we know, in our weaknesses His strength shines through! The Lord gave Roy the concept for the first DaySpring greeting card when he heard his brother Don Lessin speak these words, ìwhen you get right down to it the only thing that really matters is Jesus!î That card did so well the stores asked for more. Being obedient to God’s calling and listening to the Holy Spirit, Roy has penned thousands of cards, blogs, quotes and messages impacting millions of lives.
God has a purpose and calling on each of our lives.
Here at Mary & Martha Home Office, we don’t know what draws each Consultant’s precious heart to Mary & Martha. It may have been the special & unique Sisterhood. Or maybe being able to place product with meaningful messages in homes across America was a fulfilling passion. It could be they are fulfilled by watching Team Members emerge as Leaders, leading and influencing others. Some have shared they are drawn to the wonderful memories they make on free vacations to beautiful spots with their special someone! We do know we all have one mission and vision to make Christ known in our generation.

The Scripture that “Just Think” message was based upon is Acts 13:36: “For David…served his own generation by the will of God.”
